Christmas Songs You’ve Likely Never Heard, Day 8

“Morris the Moose,” by The Peppermint Kandy Kids

We’ve all known the person who is always down about their life, and feels that if they just had that one dream come true everything would change for them. That’s Morris the Moose. The poor guy wants nothing more than to help pull Santa’s sleigh on Christmas. He’s got all the qualifications, he just doesn’t understand why he hasn’t gotten the opportunity. If he got to do it, he knows you’d be happy with him, because he’d make sure he does it just for you!

Why I Shared It

This album is the first Christmas album I can remember ever owning. In fact, it’s one of the first “big” records I remember having as a child. I can’t recall a time in my life when I didn’t have this record, it goes back with me that far. And it’s one of my all-time favorite Christmas albums. It had a variety of original characters and situations, and I always wondered as a young ‘un why none of those ever made an appearance in the Christmas specials. When I was a child, I would expand on the record by making an audio drama that accompanied it. Morris the Moose was always the villain, and you’d know he was coming because you could hear this song being played in the distance, growing louder as he came closer.

This won’t be the last time this album will appear on the list.
